Processional Set for the Feast of Saint Joseph in Kalkara
During the year 2023 the Confraternity of Saint Joseph within our Parish of Kalkara, celebrated the 125th anniversary of its establishment, on April 6, 1898. Restoration of two titular paintings
The titular painting of Saint Joseph – The titular painting venerated inside the Parish Church of Kalkara depicts the patronage of Saint Joseph, and was composed by the renowned Maltese artist Giuseppe Calì. This artefact was signed by the author in reverse as a sign of protest in opposition to commissions given in other parishes to foreign artists for a lower fee. The antependum project
The work on the antependum project in the Parish Church of St. Joseph in Kalkara, which was undertaken by the Assoċjazzjoni Wirt il-Kalkara, was divided into two phases which were carried out together. The restoration of Ernle Bradford’s marble plaque
Thirty five years ago, exactly on the 8th of May 1986, the author and historian Ernle Bradford, who lived a big part of his life in Kalkara, died. On the same year, on the 3rd of November, the Minister for Foreign Affairs and Culture, Dr. Alex Sceberras Trigona, inaugurated a commemorative marble plaque in Triq Malta Rebbieħa (formerly Triq Marina) affixed on the facade of the house where he lived in Kalkara as a remembrance of this author… Click here to read more
The marble works restoration project in the Church
Through funds obtained from the Cottonera Projects and Initiatives Fund of the Cottonera Foundation, an intensive restoration was carried out on three marble works located in the Kalkara Parish Church. These are: the baptismal font; work of the marmist Mariano Russo and which was placed in the old Church in 1898, the holy water font which like the baptismal font is located at the entrance of the Church, and the the main altar; work of the marmist Armando Battelli in 1953 which was donated by the Mintoff…Click here to read more
The Kalkara Heritage Trail project

Species of planted trees in Kalkara
Assoċjazzjoni Wirt il-Kalkara in conjunction with the voluntary organization Saġġar, on Saturday 30th November 2019 planted 75 native Maltese trees in different areas of Kalkara. The preparatory undertakings for this initiative started several months ago when the Association demonstrated its intent to plant trees in areas with soil which were currently empty. The Project of the Kalkara Cross
The wish that in Kalkara the Cross of the Great Siege which unfortunately was destroyed several years ago is to be rebuilt, was discussed by the Assoċjazzjoni Wirt il-Kalkara during meeting number 5 on Monday 30th October 2017. Following this meeting the Association began to look for more photographs in which this cross might be visible, but unfortunately almost none could be found.
