During the last few days the Assoċjazzjoni Wirt il-Kalkara signed the contract under which in the coming months it will undertake a project under Measure 3 ‘Promotion of the Cultural Heritage’ co-financed by European funds through the LEADER program as part of the Rural Development Program 2014-2020.
The project aims to create a ‘heritage trail’ of the most important sites in Kalkara and thus creating a historical and cultural tourism in the locality. The heritage trail will include information stands and even a website with the aim of providing up-to-date historical information about each site. In addition, the project will be incorporating the printing of a digital map of Kalkara which will be accessible free of charge to anyone visiting the locality. Preliminary work for the initiation of this project started immediately.
Assoċjazzjoni Wirt il-Kalkara would like to thank the Gal Xlokk Foundation and Meusac for their help. This project is expected to be completed by the end of this year.
